Des Moines drops 4th-straight, falls to Joplin 3-2

INDIANOLA, Iowa – As head coach Tyler Willis said after the game, that’s baseball.

The Des Moines Peak Prospects have weathered the ups and downs of the season and have lost four games in a row after winning four out of five.

After the Joplin Outlaws (7-9) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, designated hitter Jeter “Dock” Fulbright IV (FR, University of the Ozarks) reached first on an error, and second baseman Colin Evers (SO, NIACC) scored.

In the 3rd, left fielder Jaxon Brooks (FR, Mesa CC) singled to right field to score center fielder Tanner Short (FR, Ellsworth CC) and tie the game.

But the Peak Prospects were blanked the rest of the way, and Joplin’s Brett Sarwinski scored the go-ahead run in the 7th on a two-out wild pitch.

Will Johnson (SO, Ellsworth CC) started the game for Des Moines, throwing four strikeouts in six innings. Kyle Snyder (FR, Highland CC [KS]) threw three innings and six strikeouts in relief and took the loss.

The Peak Prospects return to the diamond Thursday at 7 p.m. CT for a home game against the Clarinda A’s.
